Do's and Don't: ShakerUpdated 2 months ago

A set of accessories is included in every diamond painting set. One of those accessories is a shaker. You probably already know that a shaker tray is a useful tool for storing your stones, but you may not yet know how to get the most out of this handy tool.

Do: Arrange your tiles correctly

Shakers are designed to keep the stones flat and lined up in straight rows (making it easier to pick up more at once, for example). But how do you ensure that the stones lie flat? The first step is to pour the stones of one color into the container. Be careful not to overfill it, as there must be room left for the stones to move. Then shake the container very gently back and forth so that most of the stones are arranged in rows. Then gently tap the back of the container with a finger. This causes the stones to slide backwards and form neat lines. Now you are ready to pick up the rhinestones and apply them to your canvas.

Are you done with the color? then use the end of the container (with spout) to pour them back into their bag or box.

Don't: hold your shaker in your hand while you are diamond painting

There are people who hold their shaker tray in their hand when they are working on a diamond painting, or people who put their shaker tray on the table right next to their arm. While this may work for some people, chances are you'll drop or knock over your shaker with all the pebbles in it. That is of course a lot of cleaning work that no one is waiting for. Fortunately, there is a simple solution for this: using an adhesive mat. You then place your shaking tray on such an adhesive mat, so that your shaking tray can no longer move. That saves a lot of cleaning up!

Do: use a tray stand

You know it, you're just painting diamonds and then you're called away to eat or do something else. Then you can of course empty your shaker in your bag. But this is very inconvenient because you have to rearrange the stones in the shaker when you come back. Then you can use a tray stand. You can store six or twelve trays at a time on such a stand. This way you can also paint with multiple colors at the same time. How convenient is that?

Don't: separate your stones by hand

Unfortunately, it can sometimes happen, especially when it is very hot, that your stones start to stick together. Taking these apart by hand is of course a fiddle that no one wants. You can also use a shaker for this job. Place the stones that are stuck together in a shaker tray and then put another shaker on top. Gently push the top tray and the pebbles in the bottom tray should pop apart easily. For stones that are firmly attached, you can also rub the shaker trays together until they break apart.
