Help! I spilled my diamond painting stonesUpdated 2 months ago
Diamond painting is of course a fun and relaxing hobby that can improve your mood immensely. But if you've ever accidentally knocked over your shaker or ripped open your bag of pebbles a little too roughly and your pebbles are all over the floor, the feeling of relaxation can quickly turn into utter despair. Besides the fact that you have a big mess to clean up, you might also worry about whether you have enough stones left to finish your painting. Recognizable?
Of course it's frustrating, but there are some tricks to clear up the mess quickly and get back to work quickly:
1. Drop a lot of stones? Use a lint roller
Almost everyone has a lint roller at home. These devices are not only great for removing lint from your clothes, but they are also very useful for picking up fallen diamond painting stones. All you have to do is gently roll your lint roller across the floor where the pebbles fell. Then use tweezers to carefully remove the stones from the lint roller and place them back in the shaker tray, or in the bag.
Now, of course, there is some kind of glue on the lint rollers that can cause the stones to be a bit sticky after they are removed. Fill a large bowl with warm water and a little washing-up liquid. Then place the pebbles in a sieve. Remove the sieve, rinse the stones with fresh warm water and place them on a piece of paper towel to dry.
2. Clean up quickly and easily? Use a dustpan and brush
This is perhaps the most common method of cleaning up the stones. Simply sweep the fallen pebbles into the can and gently toss them back into the storage box or shaker. For best results, get a special dustpan and brush for the stones, because if you use the same dustpan and brush that you use to clean up around the house, the stones will probably get a little dirty.
3. Dropped stones on your self-adhesive canvas? Use tweezers
Of course it can (unfortunately) also be the case that you have dropped your stones on your self-adhesive canvas. Then tweezers are your best friend. Gently grab the loose stones with your tweezers and put them back in the shaker tray or storage box. This will take some patience if you've spilled a lot of stones, but it's the best way to store your supplies without damaging your painting.
4. Dropping pebbles on the floor or table? Use a damp towel
Another option to clean up your spilled stones is with a damp towel. With the towel damp, but not soaking wet, the pebbles should easily stick to it. Once you've wiped them up, gently shake the towel to loosen them. If you have only dropped a few pebbles, a damp fingertip can of course also work.
With these four tricks you can easily and quickly clean up your spilled stones. And also keep in mind that when you purchase Diamond Paintings from Happy Painting, they contain extra stones. This means that you do not have to worry if, for example, a stone has rolled under the sofa.
