Upselling and Cross-Selling Guide for Customer Service Agents

Customer service agents can engage in upselling and cross-selling to improve the customer's experience and increase sales. Follow the instructions and rules below to ensure everything runs smoothly.


Upselling

Encourage customers to purchase a more expensive or upgraded version of a product for added value or benefits.

Example:
"Nice that you are thinking about buying a painting in size 30x40. I would personally suggest buying a bigger format to make sure that the colors and details are of higher resolution and will make the end result a lot more clear."


Cross-Selling

Offer complementary products or services that enhance the customer's purchase.

Examples:

  • "Did you know a LED panel is the most-used diamond painting accessory?"
  • "I see you bought Christmas decorations; have you also seen our Christmas cards? These are great to send out to friends and family."
  • "Wow, I see you purchased 'Thick Lady in Bathtub' last time. Did you know we have the same 'Thick Lady in Kitchen'?"
  • "I’m sorry to hear your neck hurts during diamond painting. Have you tried using a stand for your painting?"
  • "Did you see we currently have a 'Buy 1, Get 1 Free' promotion on our site?"

Rewards for Sales Performance

Agents receive a reward based on their total sales at the end of the month:

  • €1–€1000: 10% commission on sales.
  • Above €1000: 15% commission on sales exceeding €1000.

Rules and Prohibited Actions

To ensure compliance and fairness, follow these rules:

Do NOT:

  1. Ask dissatisfied customers to reorder instead of reshipping.
  2. Send discount codes without a valid reason (unless instructed otherwise).
  3. Provide incorrect information to make a sale.
  4. Cancel orders so customers can reorder (exceptions: wrong product purchased, and the order cannot be edited).
  5. Advise customers to return an item and reorder through your link.
  6. Resend a link if a colleague already sent one within the same week.
  7. Cancel orders because customers forgot to use a discount code.

Valid Tickets for Sales

Sales from the following scenarios will be eligible for commission:

  1. When a customer has a question about a product.
  2. When informing customers about related collections, current promotions, or useful accessories.
  3. When upselling items (e.g., recommending larger painting sizes for better detail).
  4. As an extra service at the end of the email.

To create UTM links for tracking sales:

  1. Go to Google Campaign URL Builder.
  2. Website URL: Enter the product or website link.
  3. Campaign Source: Enter “CS” (Customer Service).
  4. Campaign Medium: Enter your name in lowercase (no capital letters).


Discount Codes for Upselling

Use these €5 discount codes when appropriate for upselling. Codes are not tracked as sales but must follow the outlined terms.

Discount Code Terms:

  • €5 off the entire order.
  • Minimum purchase of €10.
  • One use per customer.
  • Cannot be combined with other discounts.

  1. Create the discount code in Shopify (use "one use per customer" if needed).
  2. Copy the shareable code
  3. Generate a personalized UTM link using the Campaign URL Builder.
  4. Use the UTM link when sending the discount code to customers.
